Which loft conversion suits your home?
The right type depends on your roof shape, head height and planning. We'll tell you what's possible at the first visit.
Rear dormer
The most common choice. Adds full head height across the back of the roof.
Hip-to-gable
For semi-detached and end-of-terrace houses with a sloping side roof.
L-shaped dormer
Dormers over the main roof and the back addition, popular on period terraces.
Mansard
Maximum space with a steep rear slope. Usually needs planning permission.

Our experienced trades team carry out the work, with Mal overseeing quality. Simon keeps you updated every week, with photos, what's next and any decisions we need from you.
Handover
We walk through the finished work with you, finish any snags and hand over certificates and guarantees.

Common questions
Is my loft suitable for a conversion?
The main check is head height: you usually need around 2.2 metres from the top of the ceiling joists to the underside of the ridge. We will measure it at the first visit and tell you what type of conversion would work.
Do loft conversions need planning permission?
Many rear dormer and hip-to-gable conversions are permitted development. Mansard conversions and houses in conservation areas usually need planning. We will advise you on your house.
Can we live at home during a loft conversion?
Usually, yes. Most of the work happens from scaffolding outside. The staircase stage is the most disruptive and we will tell you exactly when it is coming.
